
David Bloom consults on social media relations for technology and entertainment companies as principal with Words & Deeds. He helps clients tell their stories, developing communications strategies that integrate social media tools, techniques and platforms with traditional media relations approaches.
Previously, he was associate dean and chief communications officer for the USC Marshall School of Business, where he oversaw all communications, advertising and marketing in print, online and newsletters, Marshall TV productions and other venues. Previously, Bloom was vice president of corporate communications at movie studio MGM Inc. and was a member of the firm at crisis-communications boutique Sitrick And Company. He spent 20 years as an award-winning journalist covering technology, media, entertainment, business, politics, government and investigative projects at such prominent publications as Variety, Red Herring, the Los Angeles Daily News and Dallas Times Herald.
He is on the board of directors for Outpost for Contemporary Art, a Los Angeles non-profit dedicated to bringing together art and artists from around the world. He serves on the advisory board of startup Zolio.com, and regularly speaks at technology and entertainment events.
