Demian Gordon



Demian Gordon, Sony Pictures Imageworks’ motion capture supervisor, recently completed work on Tim Burton’s ALICE IN WONDERL AND where he contributed to the motion capture efforts and some of the post production work done on the film.

Prior to ALICE IN WONDERLAND, Gordon completed pre-production work for the on-set performance capture done for THE WATCHMEN.
 
Gordon oversaw all of the facial motion capture done on both HANCOCK and I AM LEGEND, and prior to that, completed work on BEOWULF where he was responsible for helping plan and execute the pre-production, acquisition and delivery of the motion capture for the feature film.  
 
Gordon is  part of Imageworks’ Next Generation Motion Capture Technology Group which implements improvements on motion capture technology to meet the demands of filmmakers.
 
Since joining Imageworks in 2002, Gordon has also worked on MONSTER HOUSE and THE POLAR EXPRESS as motion capture supervisor.
 
Prior to his work at Imageworks, Gordon was lead motion capture supervisor on THE MATRIX REVOLUTIONS and THE MATRIX RELOADED for Spectrum Studios. For THE MATRIX sequels, he redefined motion capture technology to provide the capability to capture high intensity martial arts moves with up to 17 stunt men, all working simultaneously.
 
Gordon was senior motion capture technical specialist at Electronic Arts Canada where he supplied all in-game motion capture for twelve EA Sports titles, developed new techniques for importing, solving, tracking and applying motion capture in 3D software packages. He was one of the founding members of the Electronic Arts worldwide motion capture studio which became one of the largest motion capture studios and delivered more motion capture than the rest of the industry combined at the time of its founding. Gordon has also been a featured speaker at the Electronic Arts World Wide Graphics Conference.
 
He is also Chairman of the Motion Capture Society Board of Directors and a member of the Visual Effects Society.
 
Gordon attended Simon Fraser University where he studied computer science. He is originally from San Francisco, California and was raised in Vancouver, Canada.
