Geoff Boucher



Geoff Boucher is a feature writer for the Los Angeles Times covering music, Hollywood and pop culture for the paper's award-winning Calendar section.

He writes the popular Hero Complex blog that covers the intersection between Hollywood and comic books, sci-fi and fantasy. Boucher has been writing for The Times since 1991 and in that time has also covered crime, local politics and transportation issues. He was part of the paper's campaign-trail coverage team during the 2000 presidential election, which included a stint aboard Air Force Two. His work has appeared in more than sixty newspapers in 10 countries as well as respected publications such as Smithsonian magazine. He is the author of the 1997 book "Two Badges: The Lives of Mona Ruiz," a biography of a former gang member who became a police officer. His work was selected for Best American Music Writing of 2004 and again for the 2006 edition in the DeCapo Press series. He also wrote the popular music entry for World Book Encyclopedia's 2006 yearbook edition.
