Gary Anthony Ramsay
Gary Anthony Ramsay is the Director of U.S. News, Operations & Public Affairs for Arise News Networks.
Gary was born on the island of Jamaica and grew up in Southeast Queens, NY where he watched and learned from his hard working parents about the value of planning, execution and compassion. He has been a journalist for more than 20 years starting his career as a copyreader at a small station in Oklahoma.
During his reporting and anchoring career, Gary has covered a range of national and International stories: From both attacks on the World Trade Center, to Pre-Invasion Haiti, to Peacekeeping efforts in Kosovo, to the Invasion of Iraq where he followed troops involved in both combat and humanitarian missions. He has received a number of awards for his work including several from the both the New York and National Associations of Black Journalists, the New York Press Club, and the Associated Press. He is also the recipient of an Edward R Murrow award from the Radio and Television News Directors Association for his investigative work.
He was a founding executive at Arise News, which covers national and international issues from a perspective of diversity with a heavy emphasis on the African Diaspora. Arise News is broadcast from hubs in New York, London, & Johannesburg and tells the stories of communities of color, previously ignored by mainstream media.
Gary is married to news producer Emily Just and has five children.
