The speakers will share their approach to creative development across a variety of genres, including projects such as the Oscar®-winning feature film Manchester By The Sea and the Emmy®-winning series, Transparent.
Join non-fiction TV trailblazers Anthony Bourdain and Lydia Tenaglia for a comprehensive dialogue about their creative partnership as they share producing stories and insights from creating and selling series such as A Cook’s Tour, “Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations,” “Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown,” and their latest film projects “Jeremiah Tower: The Last Magnificent,” “Wasted! The Story of Food Waste,” and “Detroit: Once in a Great City."
Influential Oscar-nominated filmmaker James Schamus draws on his experiences as former CEO of Focus Features and producer of films such as Brokeback Mountain and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, bringing his unique perspective to an in-depth presentation on the current state of the theatrical film and its future.
In its eagerly anticipated annual event, PBNY investigates the filmmaking process with the help of producers from some of this year’s most acclaimed features. These producers will take the stage with key collaborators, ready to discuss how their partnerships provided the defining elements of their memorable films, setting them on their course for awards season.
The path from idea to edit room is never an easy one, filled with obstacles and uncertainties. With its abundance of potential storytelling platforms and formats, from multi-part narrative events to traditional 22-episode seasons, the scripted series requires producers to consider more opportunities than ever before. This session brings together producers, showrunners and producing talent to share insights into their strategies for every leg of the process.
It’s no longer “business as usual” in the entertainment industry. For too long, studios and financiers have undervalued stories by and about women. But in development and on set, producers are taking control, creating a space for fresh voices to tell stories that audiences haven’t heard before. This session provides a platform to producers and their teams that are actively creating opportunities for women in all aspects of production and challenging the status quo head-on.
In addition to the full day of sessions, Produced By: New York offers the unique opportunity to join a Mentoring Roundtable. For 60 minutes, small groups of up to ten attendees will get to ask questions of, and seek advice from, a mentor of their choice. This is your chance to ask any question about your project to a top producer. Roundtables are available to all paid attendees for an additional $100 fee.
