Produced By: New York Delves Into The Changing World of Late-Night Television
Produced By: New York delves into the changing world of late-night television with “Late-Night Laughs”, a new and topical addition to our programming line-up.
Something funny is going on with late-night television.
Invented in the mid-20th century and perfected on Johnny Carson’s Tonight Show, the late-night format was static for decades.
But all this has changed. Late-night television as we know it is undergoing a seismic shift that is changing both the style and tone of its content, and where that content is being shown.
To help us understand the challenges and opportunities of producing for late-night TV is one of the top executives working in the genre: Chris Licht, the Executive Producer and Showrunner, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Chris Licht joined The Late Show with Stephen Colbert as executive producer and showrunner after five years at CBS News, most recently as vice president of programming for CBS News. In addition to being executive producer and showrunner for The Late Show, Licht serves as Executive Vice President of Special Programming, CBS Corporation, consulting on various forms of content for divisions across the company.
Chris will lead a panel of executive producers and showrunners from both established and upcoming shows that includes (to date):
- Jen Flanz, Executive Producer and Showrunner, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah
- Mike Shoemaker, Producer, Late Night with Seth Meyers
- Prashanth Venkataramanujam, Co-Creator and Executive Producer, Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj
