BECKY READ is a freelance documentary producer with a background in current affairs.
After working at a UK national newspaper she joined Channel 4’s in house current affairs commissioning department working for the editor of Channel 4’s flagship current affairs strand Dispatches.
A move into production saw Becky working on an investigation into the News of the World phone hacking scandal before developing and producing a range of documentaries for BBC, Channel 4, ITV, Discovery Channel and National Geographic on subjects ranging from the financial crisis to the death penalty.
More recently, Becky produced Life and Death in Chicago for the BBC, looking at the escalating rate of shootings in America’s third biggest city, and a documentary about a rare form of dementia in Channel 4’s Dealing With Dad.
Becky has just directed her first film, a documentary for the BBC about the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida in February 2018.
The film follows five of the survivors in the immediate aftermath of the shooting and follows some of the students in their campaign for stricter gun control in America.
Three Identical Strangers is her first feature documentary.
