Credits: If Beale Street Could Talk and Moonlight
JOI MCMILLON is a film editor best known for her work with writer/director Barry Jenkins on the critically acclaimed film Moonlight, winner of the 89th Academy Award for Best Picture.
McMillon’s work on Moonlight made history with her being the first black female nominated for an Academy Award for Best Achievement in Film Editing and earned her the Independent Spirit Award for Best Editing.
McMillon’s other notable projects include Janicza Bravo’s Lemon which premiered at Sundance ‘17 and Jake Scott’s upcoming film, American Woman, produced by Ridley Scott.
More recently, she collaborated with Barry Jenkins for the third time on the film adaptation of James Baldwin’s novel If Beale Street Could Talk.
