ROB MARSHALL’s films have been honored with a total of twenty-three Academy Award nominations — winning nine, including Best Picture.
He produced and directed the highly anticipated Mary Poppins Returns, starring Emily Blunt and Lin-Manuel Miranda for release this December.
Marshall produced and directed the critically-acclaimed Into The Woods starring Meryl Streep, which was nominated for three Oscars, three Golden Globes (including Best Picture), and was chosen as one of AFI’s best films of the year.
His film version of the musical Nine, which he also produced and directed, garnered Oscar, Golden Globe, Critics Choice, and SAG nominations.
For his directorial work on Chicago, winner of six Oscars including Best Picture, Marshall received the DGAAward, Oscar, Golden Globe and BAFTA nominations, as well as the National Board of Review Award and the New York Film Critics Online Award, both for best directorial debut.
His epic film Memoirs of a Geisha won multiple Oscars, BAFTA Awards and a Golden Globe. And Marshall’s film Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, starring Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz, grossed over one billion dollars worldwide.
Marshall executive produced, directed and choreographed the NBC television event Tony Bennett: An American Classic. He won his second DGA Award for this production as well as three Emmy Awards for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Special, Direction, and Choreography.
He is the recipient of the Hamilton’s Producers Award, as well as the Cinema Audio Society Filmmaker Award and the Distinguished Collaborator Award for the Costume Designers Guild.
