Simran Sethi has been the Senior Vice President of Scripted Development at Freeform since August of 2015. During this time, she shepherded the rebranding of the programming slate from ABC Family to the new Freeform, including “Famous in Love,” this summer’s upcoming series “The Bold Type”, with executive producer Joanna Coles, and the network’s first late night show, “Truth & Iliza,” hosted by Iliza Schlesinger. She looks forward to the launch in 2018 of Marvel’s “Cloak and Dagger,” Marvel’s first comedy series “The New Warriors,” featuring the iconic Squirrel Girl character, the single camera comedy “Alone Together,” produced by Andy Samburg and Lonely Island, and the original Christmas movie, “Angry Angel,” produced by Will Gluck.
Sethi served as Senior Vice President of Comedy Development at NBC for four years, developing “Superstore” with America Ferrera and “The Carmichael Show”, featuring comedian Jerrod Carmichael. Prior to working at NBC, Sethi served as Vice President of Development at Adam Sandler’s company, Happy Madison, and as Director of Digital Development at Sony Pictures Television, where she developed and worked on dramas and current programming as well as digital development for Sony’s Crackle.com.
Simran began her career in soaps, working as an A.D. for “Days of Our Lives.” She attended Brown University as an undergrad and received her M.B.A. from Stanford Business School.
