Academy Award-nominated producer David Lancaster has been involved in the development, finance, production and distribution of over 40 motion pictures and several major stage plays and television series since his start in the entertainment business in the early 1980s.
Lancaster launched Rumble Films in 2014 with COO/CFO Jon Shiffman (MRC and Comerica) and Stephanie Wilcox as head of development and production. This followed his eight years as co-president at Bold Films where he produced critically acclaimed and commercial hits including Academy Award-nominated Whiplash, Nightcrawler and Drive.
Rumble’s films to date include the 2016 critical and commercial hit Eye in the Sky, directed by Gavin Hood and starring Helen Mirren, Aaron Paul, Alan Rickman and Barkhad Abdi. Current films include Small Crimes, director E.L Katz’s crime thriller starring Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Jacki Weaver, Robert Forster, Gary Cole and Molly Parker, and Message from the King (with eOne and The Ink Factory) starring Chadwick Boseman with Fabrice du Welz directing.
Rumble is currently in post-production with Backup Media on Donnybrook, from Frank Bill’s cult noir novel, written and directed by Tim Sutton (Dark Night, Memphis) and starring Frank Grillo, Margaret Qualley, James Badge Dale and Jamie Bell. They just wrapped production with Sparkhouse Media on the crime thriller Semper Fi, directed by Henry-Alex Rubin and starring Jai Courtney, Finn Wittrock, Nat Wolff, Beau Knapp, Arturo Castro and Leighton Meester.
Rumble will soon begin production with Wonderful Films and MJZ on neo-noir thriller The Burnt Orange Heresy, based on the cult novel by Charles Willeford. Christopher Walken and Elizabeth Debicki are set to star in this Giuseppe Capotondi-directed film with a screenplay written by academy award-nominated Scott B. Smith.
Other projects in development include Proxima, a sci-fi thriller to be directed by Saul Dibb, which Rumble is producing with Altitude Films and Jim Wedaa; and the supernatural thriller The Other Lamb, to be directed by Molgorzata Szumowksa.
