Joel Roodman

Joel is the founder of New York based Gotham Entertainment Group. Gotham works with producers, distributors, equity investors and media companies on a wide range of projects, which have included The Apollo Group, FIFA, the NBA, NHL, Viacom, and Comcast Corporation.

For almost a decade Joel served as a senior executive with Miramax Films where he contributed to the distribution of hundreds of independent films, including sex, lies and videotape, Pulp Fiction, The Crying Game, Shakespeare In Love, Reservoir Dogs, The English Patient, The Piano, and Scream, to name a few.

Prior to moving to New York from his native Canada, Joel held a number of senior positions with pay television channel The Movie Network, motion picture producer and distributor Astral Bellevue Pathé and film production entity Comweb Corporation.

Joel has produced two feature films, for Warner Bros. and Lionsgate. Joel has been a panelist at the The Sundance Film Festival, The Toronto Film Festival, The Cannes Film Festival and Digital Hollywood, and is presently producing the feature film, Duke Ellington: Music Is My Mistress.
