Vassiliki Khonsari is a producer + director across multiple screens, including film, games, installations and virtual reality. Independent Magazine called her “One of the top TEN filmmakers to watch” in 2016. Co-founder of iNK Stories, a New York City studio that Fast Company calls an “Innovation agent” known for creating entertaining, impact forward immersive stories for global audiences.
Vassiliki’s work has broadcast in more than 20 countries, on Netflix, Sundance Channel, ESPN, Discovery, TLC, art cinemas, MOMI and at film festivals all around the world (Sundance, Tribeca, SXSW) garnering many top honors. Most recently Khonsari executive produced the genre defining, 1979 Revolution, the narrative driven video game set in Iran called “A truly revolutionary game” by The New Yorker and winner of the Grand Jury Prize at Indiecade, PAX 10, Best of E3 (IGN), Google Play, People’s Choice Finalist (FoST). Showcased by UNESCO to the United Nations for its merit in using immersive technology for peaceful conflict resolution.
Khonsari holds a Masters Degree in Visual Anthropology and is a recipient of support from The Doris Duke Foundation, IFP, MADE IN NY Innovation Grant and a fellow of the Sundance Institute for the New Frontier Story Lab. Actively consulting and contributing to the landscape of art + technology + social advancement — as a mentor/speaker for Magnum Foundation, iDocs (UK), iDocs (Switzerland), Sundance’s Film Forward, Sundance’s Ignite, Story Change (Sweden), IDS, Eso Doc Market (Italy).
With iNK Stories her latest slate of immersive and interactive “verite” projects continue to push the boundaries, including the interactive VR experience “BlindFold”.
